  Please for you and your family's sake do not get fooled by the initial look of this place. It is all a slap job. I used to live here 7 years ago after the first building was "redone" after it burned down. I was excited that they were being redone because I've lived in highwood my whole life and the apartments used to be no better than any other projects. It had many nicknames, one being "the roach." I'll let you figure out why. The others would be to vulgar to put on here. My first stay here 7 years ago wasn't as bad, but the walls true colors have started to bleed through as the years have passed I guess. They will give you all these great incentives that sound to good to be true to get you in, trust me they are. "First months rent free", "as low as $500 security deposit." But how can a "luxury apartment" offer so much money off? Because they put no money into it. First of all very simply there is nothing luxury about this place. I've said alot so I will just start listing off every problem you can expect, and that me and my family have encountered. AT&T came to install out cable and internet, I wanted the best internet package, the installer laughed when he looked in our walls, "the wiring is absolute garbage and I cannot install the internet you want to these ancient wires." Management's response, "it would cost a fortune to rewire all these buildings." When my wife and I go on the balcony to have a drink in the summer, we have to keep checking our glasses to make sure the millions of spiders dangling above our heads dont fall in them. Management's response, " We don't have exterminators come spray, we'll have maintenance come dust your balcony." What? The yellow water is a fact, it's disgusting and we're nervous to bathe our kids in it. Managers response, "it would cost a fortune to redo all the pipes for all these buildings." The showers all backwards so when you shower enjoy the puddle behind your toilet. Neighbors leave their garbage in the halls until they feel like taking it out. I've seen multiple vandalisms, thanks to the security doors being on the inside doors where our packages are sometimes left that people prop open. A key is broken off in the outside security door and has been since we moved in so they just added a lock on the inside door. No one cleans the outside perimeter there is garbage everywhere. There are only a few guest parking spots so your friends are forced to park in regular parking at times, but don't worry the nice tow truck people will take great care of their car when they tow it promptly at 10:00pm. We had a crack in our baby's room window. I have a camera in the room and was listening the maintenance man and repare man talking while they were in there, " this place should be condemned, everything that can go wrong goes wrong." They would know best! Tried to mount a TV when my older daughter yelled, "Daddy you're going through my wall!" Standard size bolt to mount a TV. The whole wall shook, and I realized the wall was a piece of plywood about an inch thick. Dog poop everywhere. Cheapest possible appliances. They began painting about 3 weeks ago, painted all the trim blue and there is blue painted splattered all over the white walls, I was assuming they were coming to finish and paint the walls as well, but that was 3 weeks ago... looks like garbage. The stair ways are all chipped and stained, which brings me to my last and most important point. For the last few weeks we've been forced to use these ugly stairways up and down to the third floor. Why? Well since we moved in we've complained to management about how 50% of the time when calling the elevator from the first floor it just doesn't come and is stuck on the 4th floor. If we want the elevator we have to walk up to the 4th to get it. My wife has had to walk to the third floor with the baby and groceries many times. My older daughter is terrified to get in it because of the noise it makes. After all these complaints about 3 weeks ago My wife got stuck in the elevator, maintenance came and pried the door open. see next review

• Review of "Leonardi Insurance" at Highwood

  Best insurance company on the North Shore! I recently paid them a visit and they caringly asked about my terminally ill father- Leonardi treat their clients like family-not like a policy number. Isn't that the #1 thing one would want from a company whose purpose is to have your back when things go wrong? Ofcourse it is! Good luck getting the same sincerity and care from a gecko or caveman!
